Voice Messages let characters reply with short audio you set up, alongside text. Each voice message needs display text and can be assigned to phrase sets, joining the same local reply pool as regular text phrases.
1. Add a Voice Message
Path: Character → Character Settings → Voice Messages
Add a voice message.
Choose a short audio file. Source audio is validated and converted on device.
Enter display text. If the audio cannot play for a moment, chat, notifications, search, and text exports still use this text.
Choose phrase sets and confirm whether the message is enabled.
Adjust ordering and save.
Source audio is limited to 5 MB / 20 seconds. Saved app-managed audio is limited to 2 MB / 20 seconds. Processing and playback happen locally on your device.
2. How It Appears in Chat
Enabled voice messages enter the reply pool with text phrases from the same phrase sets. When selected, the chat shows a playable voice bubble. Lists, search, notifications, and chat text exports use the display text.
3. Included Voice Capacity
Free: 1 character can use voice messages, with 3 enabled voice messages per character.
Single Dream Lite: 1 character can use voice messages, with 10 enabled voice messages per character.
Multi Dream Lite: 3 characters can use voice messages, with 5 enabled voice messages per character.
Dream Walker: unlimited characters can use voice messages, with 30 enabled voice messages per character.
4. Voice Expansion Packs
Voice Expansion Packs are one-time in-app purchases shared by all characters. They add voice message capacity only, do not change your current subscription plan, and do not provide downloadable audio content.
The first release includes 6 packs that can each be purchased once: +10 Pack 1, +10 Pack 2, +20 Pack 1, +20 Pack 2, +30 Pack 1, and +30 Pack 2, for up to 120 extra voice message slots total.
5. How Expansion Capacity Is Calculated
The app first chooses the characters that can use voice messages under your plan, using character order. Enabled voice messages on characters outside the plan are archived.
Each eligible character uses its included per-character slots first. For example, Dream Walker includes up to 30 per character.
Enabled messages beyond the per-character included limit use shared expansion capacity by character order and voice message order.
When expansion capacity runs out, remaining enabled voice messages are archived by capacity and do not enter the reply pool.
Disabled voice messages do not consume included capacity or expansion capacity.
6. Voice Packages, Backups, and Sharing
You can export selected voice messages as a .dreamchatvoices file. In the first release, one voice package can contain up to 30 voice messages. On import, you can preview and select items; the app creates or archives imported voices according to your current capacity.
Complete backups can include voice message details and app-managed audio. Character share files (.dreamchatcharacter) do not include voice messages or voice audio files.
